Carolina Center for RecoveryFrom One Channel to an Admissions Engine

72%

reduction in cost per admission, month over month, after the account moved to manual bidding

In its most recent full month, Carolina Center for Recovery cut its cost per admission on Google Ads to roughly a quarter of the category benchmark, while admissions climbed sharply across both organic and paid channels.

Carolina Center for Recovery is a family-owned addiction treatment provider covering the full continuum of care, detox through outpatient, on one Charlotte campus, with a sister facility in South Carolina. Before Brand North, the account had no CRM, no call tracking, and no attribution of any kind, on a phone-driven intake model where that meant most real demand was invisible.

Percentages and milestones only. No raw client figures.

Chapter 1

Where This Started

No CRM connected an inquiry to an admission. No call tracking meant the primary intake channel ran completely dark. Two separate Charlotte websites competed for the same detox searches, splitting authority between them. A fully licensed South Carolina facility sat with almost no digital presence. Organic search was the only demand channel the business had, with no second engine to turn to when census dipped.

Chapter 2

The Fix: Instrument First, Then Spend

Brand North stood up a full CRM and call-tracking system, feeding one shared dashboard, before adding a dollar of new spend. Paid search launched only once an admission could be traced back to the exact click or call that produced it. Every channel from that point forward was judged on cost per admission, never cost per lead, and every location was reported on its own terms rather than rolled into one portfolio-wide average that hides what's happening at each facility.

Where this started

  • No CRM connected an inquiry to an admission
  • No call tracking: the main intake channel ran dark
  • Two Charlotte websites competed for the same detox searches
  • A licensed South Carolina facility with almost no presence
  • Organic search was the only demand channel

What changed

  • A full CRM, feeding one shared dashboard
  • Call tracking on every number, before new spend
  • Charlotte Detox folded into the main domain
  • South Carolina rebuilt on its own domain
  • Paid search added once admissions were traceable

Chapter 3

The Results, Seven Months In

That cost-per-admission improvement came alongside a real reduction in ad spend, not an increase, as the account moved from automated to manual bidding once enough admission-level history existed to set bids from real outcomes instead of platform guesses.

Chapter 4

The Architecture Decision: Consolidate One, Preserve the Other

Two brands in the same portfolio got opposite treatment, and both decisions were made before a single redirect was written. Charlotte Detox Center, a standalone site competing with the parent brand for the same Charlotte queries on the same physical campus, got folded into the main domain on a 1:1 URL map. It's now the portfolio's largest single source of organic admissions, and the consolidated site ranks in the top three for one of its highest-value search terms.

South Carolina Addiction Treatment, in a different state with different licensure and a different payer mix, got the opposite treatment: its own domain, its own listing, its own rebuilt site. It went from a neglected property with almost no visibility to a meaningful page-one presence in its own market, producing admissions on its own within the same period.

The test behind both calls: consolidate when two properties compete for the same demand in the same market, keep them separate when a property owns demand the parent brand can't credibly serve.

Chapter 5

Why This Matters for Any Multi-Location Facility

Read at the portfolio level, the most recent month looked uniformly healthy. Read by facility, it wasn't. One location was generating a high volume of calls but converting very few of them into real opportunities, while another was converting opportunities into admissions at a far higher rate on a fraction of the call volume. Same portfolio, same month, opposite problems, one location needed more demand, the other needed better call handling. A portfolio-level dashboard would have caught neither.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How did cost per admission drop so sharply in a single month?

The account moved from automated to manual bidding once enough admission-level data had accumulated, letting bids get set from which specific keywords were producing admissions rather than which were producing clicks.

Why was one brand consolidated while another was kept separate?

Charlotte Detox competed with the parent brand for the same demand in the same market, so it was folded in. South Carolina Addiction Treatment served a different state and a different patient population entirely, so it was strengthened as its own entity instead.

Did the two website rebuilds hurt search rankings?

No. Both migrations preserved or grew rankings on the terms that matter, and the South Carolina site nearly doubled its page-one keyword footprint across its relaunch window.
